A Future Farm

From Farm to Plate and Beyond.

The Cycle

Our system is a closed-loop cycle where nothing goes to waste:

  • Cows produce manure
  • Manure feeds the anaerobic digester
  • Digester produces methane gas
  • Methane heats the greenhouse
  • Fish waste fertilizes the plants
  • Plants filter the water for fish
  • Fresh food reaches your table

Cows creating the fuel to heat the greenhouse to grow the fish that create the fertilizer to grow the greens... it does not get any better than that!

What We Do

Aquaponics

Aquaponics is a sustainable food production system that combines aquaculture (raising fish) with hydroponics (growing plants in water). In our system, fish waste provides an organic food source for the plants, and the plants naturally purify the water for the fish. The result is a highly efficient, closed-loop food production system that uses up to 90% less water than traditional farming.

Our 27,000 square foot facility houses both Tilapia and a wide variety of vegetables and herbs, all grown without the use of any chemicals or pesticides.

Methane Energy

Our greenhouse is heated entirely by methane gas produced from an anaerobic digester connected to Baldwin Dairy's neighboring 1,100-cow operation. The dairy waste that would otherwise be a disposal problem becomes clean, renewable fuel that keeps our greenhouse warm year-round — even through Wisconsin winters.

This means our food is grown using renewable energy, further reducing our environmental footprint.

Natural Fertilizer

As a by-product of our aquaponic system, we produce a rich, natural liquid fertilizer derived from fish waste. This fertilizer is packaged and sold to consumers and farmers as an organic alternative to synthetic fertilizers. It's nutrient-dense, chemical-free, and a perfect complement to any garden or farm.

Consulting

We have helped dozens of businesses, schools, and individuals set up their own aquaponic systems of all sizes — from small home hobby units to larger commercial facilities. Whether you want to start growing your own food at home or are interested in building a commercial aquaponic operation, we can guide you every step of the way.
